The SOS screen is designed for those moments when your heart races and there’s no time to lose: a fall, a bad dizzy spell, something frightening. In a situation like that, the last thing you need is to go hunting for the blood type or the emergency number. That’s why SOS gathers everything in one place: the medical details of the person you care for and the buttons to call for help, large and in plain sight. The idea is that, when the moment comes, you only have to open this screen and act, without thinking.
It’s worth knowing it’s there before you need it, so that on the day it’s called for you don’t even have to look for it.
How to open SOS
Tap the SOS button
The access is always at hand, in the same place: at the top of Today — the app’s first screen — you’ll see a red button with the word SOS . It’s red precisely so it stands out and you find it at a glance, even if you’re nervous. Tapping it opens the «Emergency» screen.
The medical information at a glance
The care recipient's profile
The first thing that appears, at the very top, is the care recipient’s profile with everything an emergency service usually asks. The advantage is enormous: instead of trying to recall details under stress, you read them straight off the screen or even hold the phone out to the paramedic so they can see them for themselves. This is what it shows:
- Name and age.
- Blood type, weight, emergency phone number and family contact.
- Allergies (highlighted in red, because they can be vital: «allergic to penicillin») and conditions (in orange: «diabetes», «pacemaker»…).
- Current medication they take, in case it interferes with whatever they may be given.
- Insurance number and address, if you’ve filled them in.
Calling for help
At the bottom, always fixed in place so you don’t have to search for them, are the call buttons:
Call emergency services
The big red button, «Emergency» , calls the emergency number directly (999 in the UK, 112 across much of Europe, or whichever applies in your country) without you having to dial it. It’s the first one to reach for when things are serious and you need professional help right away.
Or call the family
If you’ve saved a family phone number or a trusted contact, the «Call family» button dials that person with one tap. It’s for quickly alerting someone close — «come quickly, your mother has fallen» — without having to leave this screen to look for the number.
My current location
If in the middle of an emergency you need to say exactly where you are — for example, to guide an ambulance that can’t find the doorway, or because you’re out of the house, in the street or in a park — this part solves it for you:
Check and share your location
Tap «Show where I am now» and CarePilot shows your address and your coordinates on screen, so you can read them out loud. And if you’d rather send them in writing, with «Share location» you send them by WhatsApp, SMS or whatever you use, with a link that opens the map right at the spot. Far more reliable than trying to describe where you are in words.
