These Terms of Service («Terms») govern your use of the CarePilot mobile application (the «App») developed and operated by Utility Lab Studio. By installing, registering or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.
1. Nature of the service
CarePilot is a care coordination tool for family and caregivers. It helps organize shifts, medication, medical appointments, tasks, expenses and shared documents among those caring for someone.
CarePilot is NOT a medical app. It does not provide medical advice, does not interpret clinical data, does not replace professional medical judgment and must not be used for diagnosis or treatment. The information you record is solely for reminders and organization.
In case of medical emergency, always call your country’s emergency service (112 in the EU, 911 in the US, etc.). The App’s SOS feature is a visual aid to quickly locate contacts and data, not an emergency dispatch system.
2. Account and registration
To use CarePilot you need to create an account with a valid email. You are responsible for:
- Providing truthful information at signup.
- Keeping your password secure and not sharing it.
- Safeguarding your recovery code (PIN) for E2E encryption.
- Activity performed from your account.
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. Minors must have consent from their legal guardian.
3. Acceptable use
By using the App you agree to:
- Enter truthful data and keep it up to date.
- Only record data about people with their consent or with legal basis (close family in dependency with guardian/legal caregiver consent, etc.).
- Not use the App for unlawful purposes or to infringe third-party rights.
- Not attempt to access data from groups you are not a member of.
- Not reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the App.
- Not use the App to store information unrelated to care coordination.
- Not transfer your account to third parties.
Breach may lead to account suspension in a reasoned, proportionate manner.
4. Roles within the group
The person who creates a care group becomes its administrator. The administrator can invite other members, assign roles (administrator, active caregiver, observer) and manage the group.
The administrator is responsible for:
- Member and group data management.
- Obtaining informed consent from invited members.
- Deleting the group when no longer needed.
5. Plans and payments
CarePilot offers a permanent free plan with enough features for basic family care coordination.
When available, the Plus and Pro plans will include extra features (more members, expanded AI scanning, smart alerts, themes, etc.). Specifics are described within the App.
Payments are processed through Google Play Billing. Charges, refunds and cancellations are handled from your Google Play account per its terms. Utility Lab Studio does not directly process credit cards.
Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled before the renewal date. You can cancel anytime from Google Play. After cancellation you retain the paid plan until the end of the already-paid period.
6. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Utility Lab Studio will not be liable for:
- Errors or omissions in user-entered data (mistyped medications, wrong doses, mis-dated appointments, etc.).
- Missed medication schedules, appointments or other tasks, whether from notification misconfiguration, device failure, do-not-disturb mode, battery saving or any other cause.
- Data loss arising from loss of the recovery code, signing out without backup or voluntary account deletion.
- Indirect damages, lost profits or losses arising from use or inability to use the App.
- Third-party actions (cloud providers, store platforms, telecoms).
The App is a support tool, not a substitute for personal or professional judgment. Decisions about a person’s care are the responsibility of the caregiver and, where applicable, competent medical staff.
These limitations do not exclude or limit consumer rights granted by applicable law, which prevail.
7. Encryption and data loss
Sensitive group data is end-to-end encrypted. If you lose access to your recovery code and sign out from all devices, encrypted data will be technically unrecoverable, even by Utility Lab Studio. This is a direct consequence of real encryption, not a service failure.
We recommend keeping the recovery code in a safe place (password manager, paper stored separately from your device, etc.).
8. Service availability
We make reasonable efforts to keep the App available and functional. However, we may:
- Perform occasional maintenance affecting availability.
- Modify features to improve the service.
- Temporarily or permanently discontinue the App with reasonable prior notice.
- Suspend accounts that breach these Terms.
If we ever decide to permanently discontinue the App, we will notify users at least 60 days in advance and provide data export options.
9. Intellectual property
CarePilot, its name, logo, design, source code and other elements are owned by Utility Lab Studio and protected by intellectual property laws.
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use the App per these Terms.
Data you enter into the App remains yours. We use it only to provide the service as described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Privacy
Personal data processing is governed by our CarePilot Privacy Policy, which is an integral part of these Terms.
11. Changes
We may amend these Terms to reflect functional, legal or operational changes. We will notify you via the App or email when changes are material. The «last updated» date appears at the top.
12. Account cancellation
You can cancel your account anytime from Settings → «Delete account». This results in irreversible deletion of your data as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may also suspend or close accounts that materially breach these Terms, with reasonable prior notice except in urgent cases (fraudulent use, illegal activity).
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by Spanish law. Disputes will be submitted to the competent courts at the consumer’s domicile when the consumer has such legal status under applicable law. Otherwise, to the courts at Utility Lab Studio’s place of residence.
EU consumers may access the European online dispute resolution platform.
