These Terms govern the use of the Digital Magnifier mobile application (the «App») developed and operated by Utility Lab Studio. By installing or using the App you agree to these Terms.
1. Nature of the service
Digital Magnifier is a free visual accessibility tool offering magnifier, OCR (text recognition), camera translation and read-aloud features. It is supported by respectful advertising.
The App is a support tool. It does not replace certified low-vision medical products (optical aids, devices prescribed by specialists, etc.). For a clinical accessibility need, consult a professional.
2. Acceptable use
By using the App you agree to:
- Use it for lawful purposes and according to its intent.
- Not use it to capture images of people without consent, or to violate third-party privacy.
- Not use it to recognize or read confidential documents of others (IDs, others’ prescriptions, others’ contracts) without permission of the affected person.
- Not reverse-engineer, decompile or modify the App.
- Not bypass advertising via unofficial means (modifying the APK, etc.).
3. Free model and advertising
Digital Magnifier is completely free. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions. It is financially sustained by ads served via Google AdMob.
We strive to keep advertising respectful: no intrusive pop-ups, no forced video ads to access features, no ads overlaying the camera during scanning. By using the App you accept this advertising as consideration for the free service.
If we introduce an optional ad-free plan in the future, we will announce it in advance within the App.
4. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Utility Lab Studio will not be liable for:
- Errors in text recognition, translation or reading caused by ML Kit limitations, image quality or typography. Accuracy is not guaranteed.
- Indirect damages, lost profits or losses arising from use or inability to use the App.
- Decisions made based on information read through the App (e.g. misreading a label, a prescription or a note). The user is responsible for their decisions.
- Content or practices of advertisers served via AdMob.
These limitations do not affect consumer rights granted by applicable law.
5. Intellectual property
Digital Magnifier, its name, logo, design and code are owned by Utility Lab Studio. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive and revocable license to use the App.
6. Privacy
Data processing is governed by our Digital Magnifier Privacy Policy, which is an integral part of these Terms.
7. Availability
The App is provided «as is». We make reasonable efforts to keep it functional and compatible with recent Android versions, but we may modify features, require updates or discontinue the App with reasonable prior notice.
8. Changes
We may amend these Terms to reflect functional or legal changes. The «last updated» date appears at the top.
9. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by Spanish law. Disputes will be submitted to the competent courts at the consumer’s domicile when the consumer has such legal status under applicable law. Otherwise, to the courts at Utility Lab Studio’s place of residence.
