This Privacy Policy describes how Utility Lab Studio («we») processes data within the Digital Magnifier mobile application (the «App»). Digital Magnifier is a free service supported by respectful advertising, designed with privacy as a top priority: scanned images never leave your device.
1. Data controller
The data controller is Utility Lab Studio. For any privacy-related question, write to info@utilitylabstudio.com.
2. No user accounts
Digital Magnifier does not require registration or a user account. We do not collect email, name, phone, or any directly identifying personal data.
3. Data the App processes
3.1. Camera-captured images
Images captured for magnifier, OCR (text recognition) and translation features are processed exclusively on your device using Google ML Kit on-device.
- Images are never sent to our servers.
- Images are never sent to Google servers or any third party.
- Images only live in the device’s temporary memory during processing.
- If you save an image voluntarily, it lives in your device’s gallery, not on our servers.
3.2. Preferences and settings
- Local configuration: language, theme, zoom settings, preferred translation language. Stored on the device only.
- Local scan history (if the feature is enabled). Not synced to any server.
3.3. Technical data for diagnostics and advertising
Like many free apps, Digital Magnifier integrates Google services for sustainability and diagnostics:
- Google AdMob — respectful banner and interstitial ads. AdMob may collect advertising identifiers (Advertising ID), device information (model, OS, language) and generic ad-interaction data. We have no access to personal data managed by AdMob. You can disable personalized advertising in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads → Reset Advertising ID or delete it.
- Google Analytics for Firebase — aggregated, anonymous usage metrics (installs, usage frequency, most-used screen). We do not identify users individually.
- Firebase Crashlytics — technical reports when the app stops responding. They contain stack traces, device model and app version, not personal data.
4. App permissions
- Camera — to capture images processed locally (magnifier, OCR, translator).
- Storage — only if you save or share an image voluntarily.
- Internet — to display advertising and download offline language packs.
The App does not request location, contacts, microphone or any other sensitive permissions.
5. Purpose and legal basis
We process technical data to:
- Keep the App working and diagnose issues (legitimate interest, GDPR Art. 6.1.f).
- Sustain the service via advertising (legitimate interest + your continued use of the App).
6. Data shared with third parties
The Google services listed in section 3.3 process data per their own privacy policies:
Utility Lab Studio does not sell or transfer data to third parties for our own commercial purposes.
7. Data deletion
Because Digital Magnifier does not store personal data on our servers, you do not need to ask us to delete an account. To remove all local data and reset any advertising identifier associated with the App:
- Uninstall the App, or
- Go to Android Settings → Apps → Digital Magnifier → Storage → «Clear data», or
- In Android Settings → Privacy → Ads, tap «Reset advertising ID».
If you want Google to delete data associated with your advertising identifier or with Analytics, you can do so from your Google account.
8. Your rights
Although the App does not collect personal data identifiable on its own, you retain the GDPR rights vis-à-vis Utility Lab Studio:
- Access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability.
- Right to file a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Minors
Digital Magnifier is not specifically directed at minors. Minors should use it with the consent and supervision of their legal guardian, especially regarding ads served by AdMob.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect functional or legal changes. The «last updated» date appears at the top.
